X-COM–Like OTHERCIDE Hits Stores Today and Receives Surprisingly Intense Launch Trailer

Publisher Focus Home Interactive has shared a stylish launch trailer for Othercide, an all-new horror-themed turn-based strategy game made by Lightbulb Crew, the team responsible for 2017's MOBA Games of Glory.

At its core, Othercide is an X-COM–like game set in a ruined world where a squad of mysterious Daughters is humanity's last hope. While they are immensely powerful, players will need to plan ahead of time and set up deadly chains of abilities to outsmart their enemies — and put the Dynamic Timeline System to good use.

Currently sitting at a good 78% score on Metacritic, Othercide is shaping up to be one of the most surprising games of the year — and possibly a full-blown sleeper hit comparable to Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.

Quite interestingly, Othercide is not the only big-budget video game published by Focus Home this summer, as Necromunda: Underhive Wars will make its debut in the coming weeks (but it's not clear exactly when).

Although Othercide is not as flashy as Gears Tactics, players who have already finished the Splash Damage–developed title should give it a shot — as it will be a while before the next major turn-based strategy makes its debut. Without further ado, take a closer look at the action-packed Othercide launch trailer down below:

Explore a dying timeline and discover the secrets of the City and the Suffering bred within it. Lead, evolve and sacrifice your army of Daughters, echoes of the greatest warrior to ever live, in deadly battles against the Others and Suffering across battlefields brought to life by a unique artistic direction.

Othercide is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam).
