POKÉMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU Director Is Working on BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL Adaptation for Netflix

It turns out that the long-awaited Beyond Good and Evil 2 is not the only project set in the Michel Ancel–created world Ubisoft is working on, as the studio has revealed a feature-length movie based on the series.

That's right, Netflix and Ubisoft have teamed-up once again to turn one of the French publisher's biggest titles into a full-blown movie that will make its debut on the streaming service at some point in the future.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix's Beyond Good and Evil will be directed by Rob Letterman (Shark Tale, Pokémon Detective Pikachu). Just like the cult-classic 2003 original, the film will take place in the 25th century on a remote mining planet that is being invaded by villainous aliens (known as the DomZ).

Although Netflix's official Twitter account claims that their version of Beyond Good and Evil will be an "epic space pirate adventure" — clearly following in the upcoming sequel's footsteps — THR has revealed that the TV movie will be focused on Jade — a young photojournalist and the original game's main protagonist.

Unfortunately for fans, Beyond Good and Evil is in the very early stages of development, so it will be a while before we learn anything new about Ubisoft and Netflix's third co-production. As a reminder, the giants are also working on a film based on Tom Clancy's The Division and a Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell anime series.

Beyond Good and Evil will be produced by Ubisoft Film & Television's Jason Altman and Margaret Boykin.
