Hawkeye Is an Expert at Sword Fighting in MARVEL'S AVENGERS, Weapon Artist Diego Teran Reveals

Marvel's Avengers Weapon Artist Diego Teran has revealed plenty of new details on the in-game Hawkeye — the title's seventh playable hero — and it sounds like fans of his Ronin persona will be pretty happy with Square Enix's take on the archer. As a reminder, Clint Barton will be the game's first post-launch character.

According to Teran, Marvel's Avengers' version of Hawkeye will use not only his trademark bow and arrows, but also a katana — Ronin's weapon of choice. Considering that each character in the upcoming title will be fully customizable, chances are that one of his alternate skins will allow players to channel their inner Ronin.

What's even better, the hero's recently released reveal trailer confirms that his sword will be an integral part of his impressive arsenal in Marvel's Avengers and the key to success in close-quarters combat (but it's worth to remember that keeping a distance from enemies should be your go-to strategy when playing as Barton).

Furthermore, the barking at the very end of the aforementioned trailer also reveals that Barton's beloved dog — known as Pizza Dog — will make an appearance during the hearing-impaired hero's own campaign.

Quite interestingly, Crystal Dynamics' all-new, all-different version of the warrior is heavily inspired by Matt Fraction & David Aja’s My Life as A Weapon comic book run. With Marvel's Avengers launching next month, we will definitely learn a whole lot more about the skilled archer's role in its storyline in the coming weeks.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel's Avengers will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on September 4, 2020; coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X this holiday season.
