Alan Wake's Nightmare Continues in Pulse-Pounding CONTROL: AWE Announcement Trailer

The second narrative expansion to the critically acclaimed and award-winning sci-fi shooter from Remedy Entertainment — known as Control: AWE — will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 27.

Fans of the Finnish developer should keep an eye on the upcoming expansion, as it will set the stage for Jesse Faden's future — as the beloved heroin will have to share some screentime with Alan Wake — the main protagonist of the Remedy-created game series of the same name — during her next big adventure.

According to Communications Director Thomas Puha, Control: AWE could very well be a stepping stone to a larger story — and possibly even a full-blown Remedy Connected Universe. Considering that the MCU has never been more popular, Remedy's attempt to recreate its formula could lead to truly fascinating results.

According to Puha, the titular AWE is "short for Altered World Event, which occur when paranatural forces breach our world. Sometimes, AWEs are minor and go unnoticed. However, sometimes AWEs cause catastrophic events. Historically, the Investigations Sector was where the Federal Bureau of Control’s dangerous work of searching for AWE cases was coordinated from, and where evidence was stored… until things went horribly, horribly wrong, and the sector was sealed off years ago."

As a reminder, AWE is not the only project Remedy is working on, as the Max Payne team is also developing CrossfireX's campaign. The action-packed story mode will arrive on Xbox One and Xbox Series X in 2020.
