Ubisoft Shares ASSASSIN’S CREED VALHALLA Theme by Sarah Schachner, Jesper Kyd, and Einar Selvik

The score for Assassin's Creed Valhalla — created by Jesper Kyd, Sarah Schachner, and Einar Selvik — is shaping up to be something special; and maybe even the most successful video game soundtrack of 2020.

Following the official release of the spectacular Assassin's Creed Valhalla EP — which consists of seven tracks, featuring the absolutely amazing "Out of the North" piece — Ubisoft has released Assassin's Creed Valhalla: The Ravens Saga, a new mini-album that includes seven original tracks from the renowned trio.

"We wanted the atmosphere of the theme to instantly transport the listener to another time and place, filled with mystery and uncertainty," Schachner told Ubisoft. "There are Norse instruments, but they are used in a more modern way. The theme represents Eivor’s journey, as well as the Vikings’ hope for a better life as they move further south into the Anglo-Saxon regions [of England]."

"We wanted to evoke Eivor's journey, what drives her, and the bond she has with her family," Kyd added. "Eivor is searching for something, and this longing to find it and resolve it is a key element reflected in the melody and mood ideas I contributed to the theme." As a reminder, the Danish artist has returned to the rich Assassin's Creed world after a nine-year break (it's worth remembering that his soundtrack for 2011's AC: Revelations was co-created by Lorne Balfe, who went on to score 2012's AC III).

For those unfamiliar with the trio, Schachner previously worked on Assassin's Creed: Origins and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, while Kyd scored the first four big-budget Assassin's Creed games — and also composed the iconic "Ezio's Family" theme. When it comes to Selvik, he's best known for his work on History's Vikings

To promote The Ravens Saga, Ubisoft has shared a new version of the game's reveal trailer — starring the female Eivor for a change — set to the tune of the upcoming title's main theme. Check it out down below:
