RAINBOW SIX SIEGE: Ubisoft Announces OPERATION SHADOW LEGACY Starring SPLINTER CELL's Sam Fisher
Mechanic: Bartosz Sobczak
Category: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege
Ubisoft has some sweet news for fans of Sam Fisher — as long as you don't expect a new Splinter Cell game — officially confirming that the beloved spy will make an appearance in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege.
You read that right, Fisher will join Siege's roster of playable characters. The fast-approaching event's newly released teaser trailer suggests that this particular version of the fan-favourite character will be much, much older than anyone would expect, and also not voiced by Michael Ironside (Starship Troopers, Total Recall).
Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long to learn more about the core features of the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Shadow Legacy event, as the team will discuss Fisher's new role in detail on August 16.
In other Rainbow Six Siege–related news, the latest in-game event — called the M.U.T.E. Protocol — will come to an end next Monday. According to the studio, the M.U.T.E. Protocol event gives Rainbow Six Siege players the ability to "digitize and travel through drones and cameras, making for some truly strange and surprising maneuvers. Select Operators are suited up in snazzy sci-fi outfits as they fight to control two of three areas in a special [...] mode set in a neon-infused reimagining of the Tower map."
While we're patiently waiting for more details about Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Shadow Legacy, take a closer look at the short (but sweet) teaser trailer — starring the one and only Splinter Cell — down below:
The Siege is a brand-new style of gameplay embracing the reality of counter-terrorist operatives across the world: intense and asymmetrical close-quarters combat between attackers and defenders. As a defender, you will have the means to transform your environment into strongholds to prevent the attackers from breaching. As an attacker, you will have many planning options to face this challenge and defuse these situations.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam, Origin, Uplay and the EGS); coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at a later date.
