Sucker Punch Shares a Tonne of Truly Jaw-Dropping GHOST OF TSUSHIMA Concept Art

Sucker Punch Productions has released some never-before-seen Ghost of Tsushima concept art, allowing us to take a closer look at the Bellevue-based developer's unique take on the first Mongol invasion of Japan.

"Creating a new IP is an exciting opportunity, but also a massive risk," Art Director Jason Connell said. "We’re thankful for the incredible support we’ve had from all around the globe, and especially our friends at Sony Japan who helped guide us into crafting something we’re all immensely proud of."

Set in 1274, the recently released PlayStation 4–exclusive sandbox gives players the chance to to take on the role of samurai Jin Sakai and embark on a deadly quest to stop the dreadful Mongol Empire's invasion.

Although Ghost of Tsushima follows the (tired) formula established by Assassin's Creed, fans of open-world titles should definitely give it a fair chance, as the inFAMOUS Second Son team's answer to Ubisoft's most famous franchise is one of the best-reviewed games of the year, sitting at a great 83% score on Metacritic.

Without further ado, check out some of the newly revealed concept art from Ghost of Tsushima down below:

The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan—until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But honorable tactics won’t lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting—the way of the Ghost—as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.

Ghost of Tsushima is currently available on PlayStation 4.
