SHADOW WARRIOR 3 Creators Are Officially Working on Action-RPG Set in Sci-Fi Universe

Flying Wild Hog — the Warsaw-based studio responsible for Hard Reset and the Shadow Warrior reboot — is officially developing a "new multi-format living game" that will be released by British company Jagex.

Although we've already heard about the project — which will arrive in 2021 — both studios confirmed today that players will have a chance to test the game's core features before it launches. Furthermore, we learned that the game is powered by Unreal Engine 4 — just like Shadow Warrior 3 — and will reportedly deliver "a rich, deep, connected and customisable multiplayer action-RPG gaming experience of high adventure and explosive action set in a sci-fi universe." Sadly, it sounds like the online experience won't be available on Steam (or any other popular storefront), as it will launch on Jagex’s new publishing platform.

"In Jagex, we’ve found the ideal publishing partner for a game that our talented development team can’t wait to show the world," Flying Wild Hog CEO Michal Szustak said. "What’s been clear since the very first conversation we had with Jagex Partners is that they completely understand independent development, the resources and best practice in building and maintaining a live game service, and crucially how to delight and engage players."

It's worth remembering that the newly revealed production won't be the only Flying Wild Hog–created title launching next year, as Devolver Digital will publish the Polish team's Shadow Warrior 3 sometime in 2021.

Considering that Flying Wild Hog's first multiplayer game won't make its debut anytime soon, it may be a while before we learn anything concrete about the untitled online-focused (and possibly next-gen) project.
