After years of waiting, Cold Symmetry's masocore video game Mortal Shell — which was previously known as Dungeonhaven — is finally available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (only via the Epic Games Store).
To celebrate the long-awaited project's debut, London-based publisher Playstack has released a cinematic launch trailer for Mortal Shell, putting the spotlight on its completely ruined, forgotten by God universe.
Currently sitting at a pretty nice 76% score on Metacritic, the newly released title seems to be a reasonable alternative to big-budget Souls-like games — and considering that Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin's Elder Ring is nowhere to be seen, fans of FromSoftware's output should definitely give it a chance.
In case you haven't heard about Mortal Shell before, it's an unforgiving role-playing game where you're always outnumbered and seriously outgunned, often facing impossible odds and truly enormous enemies.
Without further ado, take a look at the intense launch trailer for Cold Symmetry's debut project down below:
Awakening as an empty vessel, you will enter into a shattered and twisted world where the remains of humanity wither and rot. Implored to do the bidding of the mysterious “Dark Father”, you must traverse this tattered landscape and track down hidden sanctums of devout followers. There, in Mortal Shell’s most hallowed grounds, you must overcome formidable foes and harvest the sacred glands. You won’t be truly alone when the dead litter your path: Scattered across this land are the remnant anima of lost warriors who can be inhabited to gain their unique abilities and knowledge of weapons. The Dark Father is desperate for you to complete your task — but to what end?
Mortal Shell is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via the EGS); arrives on Steam in 2021.
