WB Games Montreal's Gotham Knights was not the only major game showcased during DC FanDome, as Rocksteady Studios finally revealed some new details on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League at the event.
First of all, the team at Rocksteady — the award-winning creators of 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum, 2011's Batman: Arkham City, and 2015's Batman: Arkham Knight — officially confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a next-gen production that will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2022.
According to the London-based studio, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set in the Batman: Arkham universe (unlike the aforementioned Gotham Knights), featuring four playable members of the unhinged team — Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark (a.k.a. Nanaue). Quite interestingly, you will be able to play it solo — switching between villains at will — or with up to three friends in co-op.
At its core, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a sandbox that take place in Metropolis. Unfortunately for the citizens, the city is besieged by various monsters — possibly including Brainiac — with their protector now murdering people left and right — and it will be up to the four rogues to put an end to Kal-El's tyranny.
It's worth remembering that James Gunn's reboot of the Suicide Squad series — titled The Suicide Squad — will arrive in theaters on August 6, 2021 — so it's safe to say that it's a good time to be a fan of Task Force X.
Considering that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League won't make its debut anytime soon, it may be a good while before we learn more about the British studio's most ambitious project to date.
