2K is ramping up the Mafia: Definitive Edition marketing campaign, this time sharing an all-new trailer — titled "A Life of Reward Too Big to Ignore" — focused on the game's playground — the city of Lost Heaven.
For those unfamiliar with the award-winning original, its upcoming remake follows the grim story of Tommy Angelo, a cab driver who discovers that being a mobster is a profitable profession — but it comes at a cost.
"My heart is closest to the original, and I'm very glad we got the chance to revisit it using everything we've learned across all the Mafia games," Head of Production and Media Director Tomáš Hřebíček said.
"Our main goal with Mafia: Definitive Edition was always to keep the spirit of the classic mob story. I strongly believe we kept in everything supporting this goal, and when we made changes, it was in service of making the characters and story deeper and richer. Obviously, all the memorable moments from the original game are super important for us. We were always comparing our work with the original and striving to make the new version 'the same but better," Hřebíček added.
Furthermore, 2K has announced that the title will allow players to enable the classic difficulty mode, turning a generally forgiving game into something more similar to the 2002 original. For example, some of the in-game driving assists will be completely gone, and you can also forget about automatic health regeneration.
