The Second Death Star Goes Boom in First Trailer for STAR WARS: SQUADRONS Campaign Mode

Although Star Wars: Squadrons is a multiplayer-focused production, the EA Motive–designed video game will also have a fully fledged story mode that will show you both sides of the ongoing intergalactic conflict.
When it comes to the campaign, it will give you a chance to create two avatars — one fighting for freedom as a part of the Republic and the other imposing the Empire’s vision of order — and learn more about the dramatic events that occurred between the finale of Return of the Jedi and beginning of The Force Awakens.
"One of the most interesting things about the time period Squadrons is set in — only a few months after the Battle of Endor — is that while we [...] know how all this ends, from our characters’ point of view there’s still a lot of uncertainty," writer Jo Berry (Star Wars: The Old Republic, Mass Effect Andromeda) said. "The New Republic has only recently changed from a rebellion into a [...] government with a galactic war on its hands. Meanwhile, the Empire has lost its Emperor, and the cracks are starting to show. Some Imperials are loyal, some are in denial, and while everyone agrees that the rebels must be destroyed, there are disagreements about what strategy to take—and who should lead."
During this year's gamescom, EA shared a fresh trailer for the TIE Fighter successor, shining a new light on one of the Imperial missions involving the highest-ranking officer in the Imperial Navy and Project Starhawk.
Without further ado, take a closer look at the action-packed trailer for Star Wars: Squadrons down below:
The second Death Star is gone, but starfighter pilots unite on both sides of the Galactic Civil War as it rages on in STAR WARS: Squadrons. Fight alongside your squadron to tip the scales in monumental fleet battles and compete in intense 5 vs. 5 dogfights. Get into the cockpit and triumph as a team by completing tactical objectives across known and never-before-seen battlefields, including the gas giant of Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.
Star Wars: Squadrons is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (via Steam, Origin, and the EGS), and VR devices (including PS VR, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Oculus Rift) on October 2, 2020.
