Troy Baker Suggests He's Working on a Prequel to 2005's BROTHERS IN ARMS ROAD TO HILL 30
Mechanic: Bartosz Sobczak
Category: First-Person Shooters
There's no denying that many fans of less bombastic first-person shooters would love to play a new Brothers in Arms game, and there's a small chance that Gearbox is finally developing the next entry in the franchise.
Voice-acting legend Troy Baker (The Last of Us: Part II, The Medium) recently posted two images on Twitter: one featuring the cover art for 2005's Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 — the very first game he worked on, taking on the role of its protagonist, Sgt. Matt Baker — with the other picture basically being a black screen with 3 letters forming "NDA" — it stands for "non-disclosure agreement" — slapped right in the middle of it.
Furthermore, Baker has revealed that said mysterious production will be a prequel "we never thought we’d get from “REDACTED." Obviously, the voice actor may have actually been talking about a prequel to 2007's Uncharted: Drake's Fortune with the titular character's brother Sam as its main — or even secondary — hero.
Considering that a TV series based on Brothers in Arms is currently in the works at Gearbox — reportedly focusing on Operation Tiger (also known as Exercise Tiger), a series of large-scale (and once-confidential) rehearsals for Operation Overlord that went terribly wrong in April 1944 — a new game set in the same universe — even if it's set before D-Day — would definitely make sense from a marketing standpoint.
At the time of this writing, Gearbox hadn't revealed any plans for a Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 prequel.
