Impressive MANOR LORDS Gameplay Overview Is Here Focusing on Trade and Military Recruitment

Solo developer Slavic Magic has released an impressive trailer for Manor Lords — the Polish artist's original take on the "city builder" genre — allowing us to learn a whole lot more about its core gameplay mechanics.

Powered by Epic Games' versatile Unreal Engine 4, the upcoming RTS will give you the chance to become a lord of a medieval town, recruit your army, trade with other magnates, and create your own regional power.

Although Manor Lords was supposed to enter Steam Early Access this year, Slavic Magic has confirmed that it's no longer the case, as he needs more time to polish the title's gameplay pillars and overlapping systems.

"Since I dropped the announcement trailer, the community of this game has truly flourished," he said. "I received a ton of feedback, ideas and suggestions, and decided that some of them are important enough to address immediately (like the new recruitment system, larger region sizes, farm fertility etc). Because of this the game got immediately better, but we might see a delay, I can’t confirm yet how long - it’s “To Be Announced”. I decided to shut up and focus on work instead of making up release dates. I’ll be updating the progress as frequently and transparently as I can," the artist added.

Considering that Manor Lords is shaping up to be one of most promising city builders on the horizon — and it's worth remembering that it's being developed by only one person — it's good to know that Slavic Magic is willing to take his time to create a mesmerising answer to Ubisoft's long-delayed reboot of The Settlers.

Manor Lords aims to provide a gridless, organic city-building experience with full freedom of placement and rotation, but utilizing snapping tools to make the planning more comfortable. The building mechanic is motivated by the growth of real medieval towns and villages, where major trade routes and landscape often influenced how the settlement shaped and developed.

Manor Lords is coming to PC (via Steam).
