Updated Synopsis for MONSTER HUNTER Teases a Huge Threat That Could Destroy the World
Sony Pictures has unveiled an updated synopsis for the long-delayed Monster Hunter movie, and it sounds like fans of the huge IP should finally accept that it won't be a faithful adaptation of Capcom's game series.
Although Monster Hunter was always a straightforward story focused on killing giant beasts to ultimately kill even bigger creatures, Paul W. S. Anderson's (Death Race, Mortal Kombat) take on the franchise will be more intense, as our heroes will try to put an end to a great danger that could "threaten to destroy their world."
In the Resident Evil: Retribution director's next big thing, Milla Jovovich's Lieutenant Artemis and her crew — played by TI Harris (Entourage), Meagan Good (Calinfornication), and Diego Boneta (Terminator: Dark Fate) — will team-up with Tony Jaa's deadly Hunter and Ron Perlman's Admiral to stop an impending apocalypse.
Although Anderson recently revealed that Monster Hunter is pretty much finished, it will be a good while before we get to see it. Considering that Sony is not planning to release any new movies until the pandemic is contained in the U.S., chances are that it won't make its debut on April 23 and will be delayed once again.

"Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower. In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown."
Sony Pictures will release Paul W.S. Anderson's Monster Hunter on April 23, 2021.
