ANT-MAN & THE WASP's Hannah John-Kamen Will Officially Play Jill Valentine in RESIDENT EVIL Reboot
Constantin Film has officially unveiled the full cast of the new Resident Evil movie reboot, and fans of Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, and the Redfield siblings should be pretty pleased with the German studio's choices.
Deadline has officially confirmed that Hannah John-Kamen (2018's Tomb Raider, Ant-Man and the Wasp) will play Jill Valentine in the long-awaited reboot of Paul W. S. Anderson's critically panned movie series.
Constantin Film's Resident Evil movie reboot will also star Kaya Scodelario (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials) as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell (The X Files, A Series of Unfortunate Events) as Chris Redfield, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap, Shaft) as Leon S. Kennedy, Neal McDonough (Captain America: The First Avenger, Sonic the Hedgehog) as William Birkin, and Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard) as the upcoming flick's main villain, Albert Wesker.
Rumour has it that the beloved Ada Wong will also make an appearance in Constantin Film's new project.
The Resident Evil reboot is set in 1998 when the outbreak of the deadly T-Virus hit Raccoon City. "With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences," Director Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down: Uncaged) said. His next movie doesn't have a release date yet.
It's worth remembering that Roberts' original take on Capcom's Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is not the only project set in the monster-infested universe Constantin Film is working on, as the studio and Netflix are also developing an 8-episode TV series focused on Jade and Billie Wesker, 14-year-old daughters of everyone's favourite bad guy, and Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, a new episodic CG-animated series.
