As Expected, Hideo Kojima's Unique SILENT HILLS Teaser Won't Be Playable on PlayStation 5
Unfortunately, it's now official that you won't be able to play PT — Hideo Kojima's mind-blowing teaser for his cancelled Silent Hills — on PlayStation 5, even if you still have a digital copy of the title on PlayStation 4.
Konami has reached out to GamesRadar's Hirun Cryer and confirmed that PT won't be backward compatible.
Considering that Konami removed PT from the PSN store in 2015 and later made it unplayable for those who had managed to download the game, the fact that it won't be backward compatible isn't too surprising.
The relatively short list of PS4 games that won't be playable on its next-gen successor also includes We Sing, Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One, TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2, Just Deal With It!, Shadow Complex Remastered, Robinson: The Journey, Hitman Go: Definitive Edition, Shadwen, DWVR, and Joe's Diner.
Although Konami has decided to nuke the franchise from orbit, the critically panned movie series based on Silent Hill is a different story, as Christophe Gans — the director of 2006's Silent Hill — is still working on a new movie set in the Keiichiro Toyama–created universe with Resident Evil: Afterlife Producer Victor Hadida.
It's probably worth remembering that 2004's Silent Hill 4: The Room recently arrived on GOG, allowing PC players to download a DRM-free version of the last numbered entry in the beloved horror series for $9.99.
