CYBERPUNK 2077 No Longer Hits Stores This November Despite Being Technically Finished

Cyberpunk 2077 may have already "gone gold" — which normally means that the works on a video game are finally finished — but it hasn't stopped CD Projekt from delaying their long-awaited sandbox once again.

That's right, the shooter will no longer make its debut on November 19, as the Warsaw-based video game developer and publisher has just announced that their first major title since 2015's The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will now launch on December 10 — and it's worth remembering that it was supposed to release on April 16.

Although the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 has been pushed back for the 3rd (?) time is definitely bad news for fans of titles like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dishonored, there's a silver lining. According to the Polish studio, they will use the extra time to make sure that their game works fine on every machine and service (namely PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, PC, and also PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X; only via backwards compatibility at launch). Fortunately, the game's next-gen versions will still hit stores next year.

"The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test 9 versions of it (Xbox One/X, compatibility on Xbox Series SIX, PS4/Pro, compatibility on PS5, PC, Stadia)... while working from home," the company said.

Thankfully, those who just can't wait to inject some cyberpunk action straight into their veins may want to keep a close eye on the critically acclaimed Ghostrunner, which is arriving on PS4, XBO, NS & PC today.
