Puzzles in IMMORTALS FENYX RISING Are Inspired by PORTAL, ANGRY BIRDS, and WORLD OF GOO

Ubisoft is really ramping up the Immortals Fenyx Rising promotional campaign, as the unique open-world adventure — previously titled Gods & Monsters — is the main star of this month's Game Informer Magazine.

The new Immortals Fenyx Rising–focused issue features a bunch of interviews with the dev team, shining a new light on its core features and biggest differences between the upcoming game and Assassin's Creed.

Although Immortals Fenyx Rising is being created by the team that gave us 2015's Assassin's Creed Syndicate and 2018's Assassin's Creed Odyssey, the fast-approaching sandbox definitely won't be as time-consuming and massive as their previous endeavours. "What we learned from [Assassin's Creed] Odyssey was that we really enjoyed making funny, lighthearted types of stories in games," Cinematic Team Lead Michelle Plourde said. "We took what we learned from Odyssey and where that kind of shined through and we transferred that into Fenyx Rising, but instead of making that where you see instances of the story being funny at some points, we tried to make it so it’s a comedy instead of this type of serious game."

There's no denying that Immortals Fenyx Rising will allow you to freely channel your inner Greek god — who possesses a handful of spectacular powers and game-changing items such as the Wings of Daidalos and the sword of Achilles — and fight terrible monsters, it will also include some environmental puzzles to make the experience less repetitive. Interestingly enough, said riddles are inspired by Portal, World of Goo, Angry Birds, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as Ubi is trying their hardest to make them challenging but fair.

With Fenyx Rising making its debut early next month, we will definitely learn a whole lot more about the title in the coming days. In the meantime, check out two Immortals–themed Game Informer covers down below:
