Next-Gen PRINCE OF PERSIA Reboot Has Reportedly Already Been Greenlit by Ubisoft
Although Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time: Remake has not even hit store shelves yet, there's a small chance that Ubisoft is already working on a brand-new entry in the Jordan Mechner–created game series.
If a new rumour doing the rounds on the internet is to be believed, the French publisher has already greenlit yet another reboot of Prince of Persia, which will apparently make its debut at some point in 2023 or 2024. It would actually be the 4th reboot of the franchise, as Prince of Persia 3D, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and finally 2008's Prince of Persia were all supposed to kick-start new games set in their respective universes.
The report from YouTuber Lazy Assassin — who was one of the first insiders to reveal concrete details about Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time: Remake, including the ethnicity of the new actress portraying Farah and its relatively low price ($39.99) — suggests that Ubisoft execs are indeed willing to give the IP another shot.
According to the insider, the Prince of Persia project is in the very early stages of development, so it may be a good while before we learn anything official about it (if we ever learn anything official about it). Although it all sounds amazing, you probably should take the new information with a grain of salt for the time being.
Considering that both Assassin and the team behind Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time: Remake are based in India (in Pune and Mumbai, precisely speaking), said title may end up being created by the same studios.
As a reminder, Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time: Remake is coming to PS4, Xbox One & PC on January 21.
