Although Dead Island 2 is shaping up to be another Beyond Good & Evil 2 — as it has been in the works for almost a decade now — chances are that the open-world extravaganza will actually make its debut one day.
During a recent exchange with a fan on Twitter — who suggested that gamers should forget about playing Dead Island 2 anytime soon — publisher Deep Silver revealed that the sequel to the 2011 survival horror is still coming, and the company is getting ready to share some new details about the long-delayed sandbox.
Thus far, 3 different video game developers have tried to get Dead Island 2 off the ground — namely, Yager Development (Spec Ops: The Line), Sumo Digital (Crackdown 3), and finally Dambuster Studios (Homefront: The Revolution) — but we haven't learned anything really new about their troubled project since May 2019.
Rumour has it that Dead Island 2 is a cross-gen production, suggesting that the long-awaited title is headed to both last and current-gen platforms (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X) and PC.
Interestingly enough, Dead Island 2 is not the only sequel to a Techland-created title that just can't make its way on store shelves, as the Polish studio's own Dying Light 2 has also been in development for years now.
We wouldn't be so sure about that! 😉— Official Deep Silver (@deepsilver) December 3, 2020
