Ubisoft India's PRINCE OF PERSIA - THE SANDS OF TIME REMAKE No Longer Has a Release Date

Ubisoft India and Ubisoft Pune will have more time to make sure that Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time Remake lives up to the legacy of the beloved original, as the adventure game has just lost its most recent release date. Ubisoft has officially announced that the remake has been delayed to an unspecified date.

Ubisoft's promotional campaign for Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time Remake may have got off to a bad start — thanks to one universally hated reveal trailer — but it's good to know that the publisher is still willing to give the teams behind the game a fair chance to further polish their biggest project to date.

Jordan Mechner — the visionary creator of the Prince of Persia series — has also shared his thoughts on the game's second delay. "Personally, I'm glad to see this remake get the extra time and resources," Mechner said. "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a very special game for me. I've been touched to hear from gamers and developers who've let me know that it has a place in their hearts too. I know how important this project is to the remake team, and how hard they're working. After 17 years, I'm more than happy to be patient a little longer until I can pick up the controller and play Sands of Time again as if for the first time." It's worth remembering that Mechner serves as a creative consultant on the remake.

Ubisoft India's original take on 2003's Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time was originally supposed to launch worldwide last month — on January 21, to be exact — before Ubisoft decided to push it back to March 18.

With Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time Remake no longer having a release date, 2021 is shaping up to be a pretty... interesting year for the French publisher, as it's impossible to find a single video game currently in the works at Ubisoft with an official launch window. That's right, all upcoming Ubisoft games are now undated — and we're talking about long-awaited titles like Far Cry 6, Beyond Good & Evil 2, Rainbow Six Quarantine, The Settlers, Riders Republic, Skull & Bones, Ubisoft Massive's The Avatar Project, and many more.
